The QS-220 Actuator Upgrade Set to 3DOF is designed for customers who already own a QS-220 starter setup and want to expand it into a full 3DOF configuration. By adding another QS-220 motion set, you move from a basic entry layout to a more complete actuator-based motion architecture that delivers stronger cues, higher headroom, and more convincing chassis behavior - especially during weight transfer and cornering transitions.

QS-220 is the larger, higher-stroke actuator system in the Qubic ecosystem, built for demanding sim racing and professional simulation use. With 100 mm stroke actuators, low latency control, and real-time vibration detail, it reproduces road texture and rapid dynamics with exceptional precision. Everything is configured in Qubic Manager, using the same tuning workflow and game-specific profiles as Qubic System motion cockpits.

This upgrade set is intended for users who already have the QS-MC6 motion controller set in their existing build. The new motion set integrates directly into the system without adding extra PC connections in typical multi-module QS-220 configurations - you add the extra pair of actuators, connect the power cabinet within the system, and configure the new 3DOF profile in software.

QS-MC6 is not included in the Upgrade Set. This set expands an existing QS-220 Intro or Pivot setup and reuses its QS-MC6 controller. One controller connects to the PC; signals pass from one power cabinet to the next.

This set uses your existing QS-MC6 controller and its connection to the computer. The current version of QS-MC6 has a USB-C port; the Upgrade Set does not include a new controller.

Upgrade Set

Adding a second pair of matching QS-220 actuators and another power cabinet expands an Intro or Pivot system to full 3DOF: pitch, roll and independently controlled vertical movement (heave). In a Pivot system, the new actuators replace QS-Pivot. The existing QS-MC6 controller remains in use; one controller connects the complete system to the PC.

Plug & Perform

The power cabinets and actuators use detachable, shielded connectors with chrome-plated brass housings. Shielding helps reduce electromagnetic interference. Detachable cables make cockpit installation and cable routing easier. Connect the equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Enhance Stability

Dedicated brackets allow QS-220 actuators to be mounted to compatible aluminium-profile cockpits. They help position the actuators on the frame and provide secure attachment. Check the mounting arrangement for your cockpit before installation.

Qubic Manager Software

Qubic Manager is software developed by the hardware manufacturer to configure and operate motion platforms. It works with many racing and flight simulators on PC; the list of supported games grows with software updates.

Profiles and settings let you adjust motion intensity, responses to bumps, roll and pitch to your preferences.

What is QS-220?

QS-220 is a modular linear-actuator motion system built for realistic motion textures and real-time vibrations (up to 100 Hz), with very low latency (<8 ms) and high control frequency (up to 1000 Hz).

What motion configurations (DOF) can QS-220 support?

Standard QS-220 configurations offer 2DOF, 2.5DOF with QS-Pivot, or full 3DOF with four actuators. A 3DOF setup can be expanded to 5DOF with the QS-CH2 platform, which adds forward/backward movement (surge) and rotation around the vertical axis (yaw). For 6DOF, QS-S25 is an example of a complete platform. You can also design and build your own motion platform using QS-220 actuators as components. Achieving 4, 5 or 6 independent degrees of freedom requires a suitable mechanical structure, actuator arrangement and compatible control system configured for that geometry. The number of actuators alone does not determine the number of degrees of freedom.

What are the key performance specs of QS-220 actuators?

Actuator stroke is 100 mm (3.93"). Maximum velocity is up to 800 mm/s (Q-Mode on 230V) and the system supports real-time vibrations in the 0–100 Hz range, with latency below 8 ms. Q-Mode, with speeds up to 800 mm/s, is available only in the 3DOF configuration with four actuators, a 230 V power supply and no QS-CH2 platform. After upgrading to a complete 3DOF system with four actuators, the maximum payload is 350 kg in Heavy Duty mode, 250 kg in Performance mode and 200 kg in Q-Mode.

What power supply is required?

Can it be used for VR?

Yes. Qubic Manager supports VR HeadWay (VR motion compensation) to reduce unwanted VR tracking effects caused by platform movement.

What’s the difference between QS-220 and QS-210?

QS-220 is the larger, higher-stroke system (100 mm vs 60 mm on QS-210) designed for bigger motion envelopes and heavier-duty applications. It also supports higher maximum velocity modes (up to 800 mm/s in Q-Mode) and higher recommended payloads in 3DOF configurations compared to QS-210. Q-Mode, with speeds up to 800 mm/s, is available only in the 3DOF configuration with four actuators, a 230 V power supply and no QS-CH2 platform.

What is the QS-220 Upgrade Set designed to do?

It is intended for owners of a QS-220 Intro or Pivot set with a QS-MC6 controller who want to expand their system with another QS-220 motion set: two actuators and an additional Power Cabinet. Do I need an additional USB connection to the PC?

No. A compatible system with two, four or six actuators uses one QS-MC6 controller connected to the PC. Signals pass from one power cabinet to the next. The Upgrade Set does not include another controller; it reuses the QS-MC6 from your existing Intro or Pivot set.
