The QS-220 2.5DOF Pivot Set is designed for sim racers and professional users who want intense, high-end motion sensations in a compact configuration. By pairing QS-220 industrial-grade linear actuators with the dedicated QS-Pivot geometry, it creates a unique "2.5DOF" experience - strong pitch and roll cues with a convincing perception of vertical load transfer, bumps, and chassis movement, all while keeping the overall footprint and complexity lower than a full multi-module actuator build.

QS-220 is the higher-stroke actuator system in the Qubic ecosystem, engineered for demanding applications where motion range and responsiveness matter. With 100 mm stroke actuators, low latency control, and real-time vibration detail, it delivers precise feedback for braking, acceleration, direction changes, curb strikes, and surface texture. Everything is managed through Qubic Manager, using the same game-specific profiles and tuning workflow as larger Qubic System motion cockpits.

QS-Pivot is fully compatible with QS-220, but its height is optimized for QS-210 actuators. With QS-220 actuators positioned at mid-stroke, the cockpit may sit at a slight angle. If you prefer a level cockpit in this position, you can add an aluminium profile spacer between the cockpit and the QS-Pivot frame.

Pivot Set 2.5 DOF Configuration

With two actuators and QS-Pivot, the 2.5DOF configuration provides pitch and roll. The sensation of vertical movement (heave) is generated through pitch; it is not an independently controlled vertical movement.

Full 3DOF with independent heave requires replacing QS-Pivot with a second pair of matching actuators and adding another power cabinet.

Plug & Perform

The power cabinets and actuators use detachable, shielded connectors with chrome-plated brass housings. Shielding helps reduce electromagnetic interference. Detachable cables make cockpit installation and cable routing easier. Connect the equipment according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Enhance Stability

Dedicated brackets allow QS-220 actuators to be mounted to compatible aluminium-profile cockpits. They help position the actuators on the frame and provide secure attachment. Check the mounting arrangement for your cockpit before installation.

Qubic Manager Software

Qubic Manager is software developed by the hardware manufacturer to configure and operate motion platforms. It works with many racing and flight simulators on PC; the list of supported games grows with software updates.

Profiles and settings let you adjust motion intensity, responses to bumps, roll and pitch to your preferences.

What is QS-220?

QS-220 is a modular linear-actuator motion system built for realistic motion textures and real-time vibrations (up to 100 Hz), with very low latency (<8 ms) and high control frequency (up to 1000 Hz).

What motion configurations (DOF) can QS-220 support?

Standard QS-220 configurations offer 2DOF, 2.5DOF with QS-Pivot, or full 3DOF with four actuators. A 3DOF setup can be expanded to 5DOF with the QS-CH2 platform, which adds forward/backward movement (surge) and rotation around the vertical axis (yaw). For 6DOF, QS-S25 is an example of a complete platform. You can also design and build your own motion platform using QS-220 actuators as components. Achieving 4, 5 or 6 independent degrees of freedom requires a suitable mechanical structure, actuator arrangement and compatible control system configured for that geometry. The number of actuators alone does not determine the number of degrees of freedom.

What are the key performance specs of QS-220 actuators?

The actuator stroke is 100 mm, the vibration frequency range is 0–100 Hz, and latency is below 8 ms. Maximum velocity is 300 mm/s and maximum acceleration is 0.4 G. The Pivot 2.5DOF set operates only in Heavy Duty mode.

What power supply is required?

120/230 V AC ±10%, 50–60 Hz; single phase, neutral and protective earth (PE). The included QS-MC6 connects to the PC via USB-C and to the control module via M-BUS RJ45. The USB-C port is on the M10 controller included in the QS-MC6 set.

What software is used? Is it included?

Qubic Manager is used to configure and run the system. The software license is free-of-charge.

Can it be used for VR?

Yes. Qubic Manager supports VR HeadWay (VR motion compensation) to reduce unwanted VR tracking effects caused by platform movement.

What’s the difference between QS-220 and QS-210?

QS-220 is the larger, higher-stroke system (100 mm vs 60 mm on QS-210) designed for bigger motion envelopes and heavier-duty applications. It also supports higher maximum velocity modes (up to 800 mm/s in Q-Mode) and higher recommended payloads in 3DOF configurations compared to QS-210. Q-Mode, with speeds up to 800 mm/s, is available only in the 3DOF configuration with four actuators, a 230 V power supply and no QS-CH2 platform. The Pivot 2.5DOF set operates only in Heavy Duty mode, at speeds up to 300 mm/s.
